Introduction
The study “Europeans’ expectations regarding mobility”, conducted for AramisAuto, aims to understand and analyse how European motorists currently experience their journeys, approach the purchase of a car and view developments in mobility in their country.
Hereafter are some key findings :
- Across Europe, mobility is now subject to significant budgetary constraints: rising costs are widely felt, consistently anticipated and are forcing motorists to make increasingly difficult trade-offs. This pressure is changing everyday behaviour and, in every country, fuelling a strong expectation of public protection against rising travel costs.
- Motorists do not reject the automotive transition, and a majority are already looking towards electric or hybrid vehicles for a future purchase. However, this shift remains subject to three key requirements: affordable prices, guarantees of safety and reliability, and the preservation of their freedom of choice.
- Reconditioned used cars meet several key expectations of drivers: they allow them to balance the need for budget control, the need for reassurance, and a more responsible approach to consumption in the era of the green transition.
- European motorists primarily support measures that protect their purchasing power or reduce the cost of car ownership. Conversely, measures perceived as more restrictive are significantly more divisive: changes in mobility are better accepted when they remain gradual and economically sustainable.
